Since the age of twelve I have had a constant companion. It goes with me to church. I take it to dinner. I have it with me at the movies. And of course it is with me when I go shopping.
What is it?
It is my handbag.
My handbag carries my life. From basic identification to lipstick (and all the left over receipts you can find), I need my purse with me where ever I go.
I know I am not alone in this type of relationship. Women all over the world accessorize their lives with their own handbags. Handbags, purses, totes, carryalls, or pocketbooks… whatever you call it, it is your bag and it is always there for you.
It is because of this relationship that I demand a certain standard from my handbag. I choose designer handbags to accompany me through life because I know I can expect fine craftsmanship, attention to detail, strength, beauty, and an attitude of superiority which says, “She knows what she is doing.”
Some people will say designer handbags are too expensive, but I say when picking your lifemate, you want the best and the truth is the best comes from places like Kate Spade, Dooney and Bourke,Kenneth Cole New York, Coach, and Gucci.
My handbag and me...partners for life.
What Do You Want Out of Your Designer Handbag?
Designer handbags are an investment. It isn’t just the cost (most designer handbags are over $100, and often much more) but the function the handbag has in your life.
When deciding on any handbag you need to determine exactly what it is your bag will carry. Are you a minimalist who only needs a wallet, one lipstick, and your cell phone? Or do you need to also have your tissues, powder, and sunglasses? I also typically carry a camera, notebook, and a few pens. While I would prefer to have one small, medium, and large bag for me to fill for various jaunts, but I don’t have the luxury, so I stick to the large designer handbag.
Another consideration when deciding on your bag is the opening. Because I often need quick access, I prefer to have a double closure. A quick magnetic one to flip open and a zipper on the top to ensure contents will not fall out if the bag falls. But there are buttons, drawstrings, belts, and snaps to also consider.
I move quickly and need to know my handbag is moving at the same pace. I don’t have time to stop and adjust the strap on my shoulder. I also am usually carrying something else, so I need my hands free. This is why when deciding on strap style I like the longer, adjustable ones so I can drape the bag over my shoulder and diagonally over my body. Everyone has their preference so the handle or strap style is an important part of any handbag decision.
Knowing your expectations of your handbag will help you narrow down the choices and make you feel even more confident when buying your designer handbag.
